About the Opportunity
Currently, MAT 4Site has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Toronto (North York), ON on a full-time basis. This role will operate on a hybrid basis of in-office/on-site and work from home.
Reporting to senior engineering leadership, this role is a senior, hands-on position combining technical delivery, project management, and team mentorship. You will lead the design and execution of electrical building systems projects while acting as a Project Manager on assigned work, ensuring high-quality outcomes, client satisfaction, and timely delivery across commercial, healthcare, multi-residential, industrial, and institutional facilities.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading the design and delivery of electrical building systems for commercial, multi-residential, and institutional facilities
- Managing assigned projects, including scope, schedules, milestones, and client coordination
- Preparing and reviewing conceptual and detailed electrical designs
- Performing site investigations, field reviews, and attending site meetings
- Coordinating with clients, contractors, consultants, and local utilities
- Reviewing and preparing AutoCAD drawings and BIM models using Revit
- Designing and reviewing power distribution systems, equipment sizing, and load calculations
- Designing and reviewing lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, and specialized electrical systems
- Preparing and reviewing lighting photometric calculations
- Preparing technical specifications and engineering reports, including feasibility studies and lifecycle analyses
- Applying and reviewing compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and quality requirements
- Mentoring junior designers, assigning work, and providing technical guidance
- Sealing and taking professional responsibility for engineering work
More About You
To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a P.Eng. designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). A minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering within a consulting environment, specifically focused on building systems, will also be essential. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required in order to travel to various project sites.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, multi-residential, industrial and institutional buildings
- Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, Canadian Electrical Code/Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and CSA standard
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit (BIM)
- Experience with power systems analysis and coordination studies
- Experience with lighting design, lighting design software and photometric calculations
- Experience designing power distribution systems
- Experience designing fire alarm systems
- Experience designing specialty systems (communications, A/V, Security)
- Proven ability to prepare technical specifications and engineering reports
- Experience acting as a Project Manager on engineering projects
